Characters from the trip

- Colin and Kate from England: Jolly retired couple. He is very fast hiker. They compliment each other very nicely.

- Donna and Steve from Australia: He a banker and she a travel agent. Steve does all the luggage carrying. Donna was cool in the beginning, but warm up to the group after few days.

- Ray from New Zealand: Pharmacist, working part-time after selling his share in the couple pharmacies he owned. Very funny and good guy.

- Marit from Belgium: working for a shipping company. Very blunt in her talking, but after you get used to it, she is actually pretty funny. Her feet were swollen during most of the trip.

- Brenda from Australia: studied psychology in college, now consulting as counselor. Thinking of teaching English in Japan. Tried drugs while young in which her mom did not care. She and Darren madly fall in love at the end of the trip. Always late, very slow in everything.

- Darren from Australia: work in IT, but quit his job more than a year ago, and is on his 2nd stint of around the world tour! Like to procrastinate, but fast when he put his mind to it. Initially he, Ray, and Paula, pretty much the clowns of the group.

- Terry from Australia: working as hr policy writer in the police department. Also a volunteer firefighter. She is traveling for more than month, and we celebrated her 40th birthday (a week of so early) for her. She is extremely organized, although a bit of bossy type, we felt that she is a very nice and considerate person and can always trust her; unlike our tour leader Jona and Paula. She is the only person in our group that smoked, but always polite to step outside to smoke.

- Paula from Australia (of Lebanese origin): now working in London in the economic law. Extremely outgoing and flirting type. She got a room to herself on the whole trip. She flirted pretty much with everyone guys and girls. But people sort of figured her out after a week that she can talk to talk, but sometime can’t walk to walk. She had us fools (single guys) helping to carry her stuff in the beginning. In the end, she just hung around with my family. I guess I am a sucker for this type of girls too. O, btw, her underwear is always showing (g-string and all).
